Welcome to Dozzi

Dozzi is a smart baby monitor that listens for your baby's cries and gently wakes the right parent through Apple Watch vibrations — so one parent can respond while the other keeps sleeping.

How it works

A small hub sits in baby's room with a built-in microphone. When it detects crying, it sends a gentle haptic alert to the right parent's Apple Watch — no loud alarm, no waking the house.

What You'll Need

📱
iPhone
iOS 17 or later
Apple Watch
Series 6 or later recommended
🔊
Dozzi Hub
Plugged in, in baby's room
📶
Home WiFi
2.4 GHz network
Make sure your iPhone and Apple Watch are paired, and that the Watch app on your iPhone shows your watch as connected before you begin.

Getting Started

Install from TestFlight

  1. Open the TestFlight invitation link we sent you — check your email or Messages
  2. If you don't have TestFlight installed, the App Store will prompt you to download it — it's free
  3. Tap "Accept" in TestFlight, then tap "Install" to get Dozzi
  4. The Watch app installs automatically — open the Watch app on your iPhone and scroll down to confirm "Dozzi" appears under Installed

First Launch

  1. Open Dozzi on your iPhone
  2. Sign up with Apple ID (easiest) or email & password
  3. Enter your baby's name and birthday — optional, but it personalizes the experience
  4. Approve the biometric consent screen — this allows Dozzi to read heart rate and motion from your Apple Watch to determine who's more awake
  5. Grant all requested permissions:
    • HealthKit — heart rate & motion data
    • Notifications — backup phone alerts
    • Bluetooth — detecting the hub nearby
Say yes to all permissions. Dozzi needs each of them to work overnight. Missing a permission is the most common cause of missed alerts during beta.

3
Setting Up the Hub
  1. Plug in the hub in your baby's room using the included USB-C cable. A small light will turn on when it's powered.
  2. Open the Dozzi app on your iPhone. It will search for nearby hubs over Bluetooth.
  3. When your hub appears, tap to connect. The app will walk you through WiFi setup.
  4. Choose your 2.4 GHz WiFi network and enter the password. Once connected, you're set.
If your partner already set up the hub

You don't need to configure WiFi again. During setup, tap "Skip WiFi Setup" — Dozzi will find the hub on your network automatically.

Caregiver roles

The hub assigns each person a letter in the order they connect. Up to 4 caregivers can share one hub — great for grandparent visits.

Adding Your Partner

  1. Have your partner open the same TestFlight link and install Dozzi on their iPhone
  2. They complete the same sign-up and permissions flow
  3. When the app finds the hub, they tap to connect — no additional WiFi setup needed
  4. Verify you're both listed under Settings → Manage Caregivers
About the hub button

The small button is a reset button — you shouldn't need it normally. If the hub isn't appearing for Bluetooth setup, press it 3 times quickly after plugging in to re-enter setup mode.

Both phones must be on the same WiFi network as the hub in order to connect.

4
Alert Modes

Dozzi gives you four ways to decide who gets woken up. Pick the one that fits your family — you can change it any time from the Blueprint tab.

🧠 Smart

Uses Apple Watch data to detect who's sleeping lighter and wakes that person. The deeper sleeper stays asleep.

🔁 Alternating

You and your partner take turns. Simple, fair — no one feels like they always get up.

🕓 Schedule

Set time-based shifts. "I'll handle before 2 AM, you handle after." Set it and forget it.

📢 Broadcast

Everyone gets alerted at the same time. Good when you want all hands on deck.

How to Change Your Mode

  1. Tap the Blueprint tab at the bottom of the app
  2. Tap the mode you'd like to use
  3. If you chose Schedule, configure the time window for each shift
  4. Tap Save — your hub updates instantly
Our recommendation for first-timers

Start with Alternating for your first few nights — it's the simplest way to confirm everything is working. Once comfortable, switch to Smart mode.

5
During the Night

Bedtime Checklist

  1. Put baby down in their room (where the hub is plugged in)
  2. Open Dozzi and tap "Start Monitoring"
  3. Put on your Apple Watch, open the Dozzi watch app, and tap "Start Monitoring" there too. Confirm all status icons are green.
  4. Place your iPhone on your nightstand, plugged in
  5. Go to sleep — Dozzi handles the rest

When Baby Cries

Hub detects crying

The microphone picks up the sound and sends an alert through your network

Your watch vibrates gently

A soft haptic buzz on your wrist — enough to wake you, quiet enough to spare your partner

Tap "I'm Awake"

Dismiss the alert on your watch or phone to let Dozzi know you're up

Go tend to baby

If you walk toward the crib, Dozzi detects your proximity and won't send follow-up alerts

Self-Soothe Snooze

Think baby might settle on their own? Tap "Self-Soothe Snooze" to pause alerts briefly. If crying continues, you'll get another alert.

Automatic Proximity

If you or your partner are already near the hub, Dozzi won't send follow-up alerts — it knows someone is already there.

Keep the Dozzi app running in the background and your phone plugged in overnight. This keeps the connection to the hub reliable all night.

6
Best Practices for Overnight Use

Run through these before your first night to make sure Dozzi works flawlessly.

Add the Watch Complication

Long-press your watch face, tap Edit, and add the Dozzi complication. This helps Dozzi wake your watch faster.

🔕

Turn Off Do Not Disturb

DND and Sleep Focus can block watch haptics. Disable all Focus modes on both iPhone and Apple Watch before bed.

🔋

Keep Phone Plugged In

iOS aggressively kills background apps on low battery. Charge your phone overnight on your nightstand.

Disable Low Power Mode

Low Power Mode limits background activity. Turn it off via Settings → Battery → Low Power Mode before bed.

🚫

Don't Force-Quit the App

Swiping Dozzi away from the app switcher kills monitoring. Just lock your phone and let it run in the background.

📶

Stay on the Same WiFi

Your phone and hub both need the same 2.4 GHz network. Make sure they're not accidentally on different bands.

🎧

Leave Silent Audio Running

The "playing" indicator on your lock screen is Dozzi's silent audio keeping the app alive. It makes no sound. Don't pause it.

📲

Open the Watch App Before Bed

Open Dozzi on your watch and confirm it says "Monitoring" before you go to sleep.

The #1 cause of missed alerts: Do Not Disturb or Sleep Focus left on. Double-check both your iPhone and Apple Watch before bed each night.

7
Sleep Insights & Milestones

After each night, Dozzi shows you a breakdown of how everyone slept. Open the Insights tab to explore three views:

📊

Session

Last night's sleep stages, total sleep time, and every alert sent.

📈

Trends

7, 14, or 30-day patterns. Is the alert load fair between parents?

🏆

Milestones

Earn badges and streaks — "First Night," "Quick Response," and more.

Sleep stages explained

Dozzi uses your Apple Watch heart rate and movement to estimate sleep stages. It self-calibrates to your personal patterns over time.

  • Deep Sleep — lowest heart rate, minimal movement (most restorative)
  • Light Sleep — moderate heart rate, some movement
  • REM Sleep — elevated heart rate, very little movement (dreaming)
  • Awake — movement detected with elevated heart rate
Sleep data appears the morning after monitoring. If sleep stages aren't showing, make sure HealthKit permissions are enabled for Dozzi in the iPhone Health app.

8
Settings & Customization

All settings are in the Settings tab (gear icon).

Key Settings

Sensitivity
How sensitive the hub is to sounds. If you're getting too many alerts (ceiling fan, white noise machine), lower it. If it's missing cries, raise it.
Self-Soothe Duration
How long the Self-Soothe timer waits before re-alerting. Default is a few minutes — adjust to your comfort level.
Response Time
How long Dozzi waits for acknowledgment before escalating to a phone notification as backup.
Feeding Timer
An optional reminder for scheduled feedings. Totally optional and can be ignored during beta.

Special Modes

Phone-Only Mode
Don't have your Apple Watch tonight? Enable this under Settings → Alert Delivery to receive phone vibrations instead of watch haptics.
Background Audio
Dozzi plays a silent audio track to stay alive overnight. This is intentional and makes no sound. Don't force-quit the app — let it run.

Troubleshooting
Hub not showing up in the app?

Make sure the hub is plugged in and the light is on. Confirm your iPhone is on the same 2.4 GHz network. Try toggling Bluetooth off and on. If still stuck, go to Settings → Advanced and enter the hub's IP address manually.

Watch not vibrating for alerts?

Open the Dozzi watch app and confirm it says "Monitoring." Check HealthKit permissions (iPhone → Health app → Sharing). Make sure Do Not Disturb and Theater mode are off. Verify the Dozzi complication is on your active watch face.

Getting too many false alerts?

Lower the Sensitivity in Settings. White noise machines, fans, and older siblings can trigger the mic. Position the hub closer to the crib and away from other noise sources.

"Hub Full" error?

Dozzi supports up to 4 caregivers. To add someone new, go to Settings → Manage Caregivers and remove an inactive caregiver first.

Sleep stages not showing up?

Make sure you wore your Apple Watch to bed and that monitoring was active all night. Sleep data is calculated after you stop monitoring in the morning.

App seems to have stopped overnight?

You may have accidentally force-closed the app. Keep the phone plugged in, Low Power Mode off, and all Focus modes disabled. Check that Background App Refresh is enabled for Dozzi in iOS Settings.

Giving Feedback

Your feedback is the most valuable thing you can give us right now. Here's how to share what you find:

The easiest way: TestFlight screenshots

Take a screenshot in the Dozzi app and TestFlight will automatically prompt you to send feedback. Add a quick note about what happened.

What to Watch For

  • Overnight reliability — Did monitoring stay active all night? Any disconnections?
  • Alert timing — Did alerts arrive quickly when baby cried? Any noticeable delays?
  • False alerts — Did the hub alert when baby wasn't crying? What was happening nearby?
  • Watch vibrations — Strong enough to wake you? Too many? Too few?
  • Sleep stage accuracy — Do the reported stages seem reasonable for your night?
  • Partner fairness — In Alternating mode, did it feel balanced?
  • App crashes — If the app crashes, reopen and let us know when it happened
Debug report

If something went wrong overnight, export a debug report from Settings → Advanced → Export Debug Report. Send it via text or email.
