Set up your Dozzi Base

About 10 minutes: place it, plug it in, connect the app, invite your partner and run one test before bed.

Strangulation hazardChildren have strangled in cords. Keep the Base and its cord more than 3 feet (0.9 m) from any crib, bassinet or playpen. Never attach it to a crib or use an extension cord.

Before you start

A phoneiPhone with iOS 17 or newer, or Android 8 or newer

Setup steps

  1. Pick its spot

    A shelf or dresser in the nursery, at least 3 feet (0.9 m) from the crib, with the cord out of reach. It only needs to hear the room.

  2. Plug it in

    Connect the cable to the Base and to the included adapter, then plug the adapter into a wall outlet. There is no power button.

  3. Get the Dozzi app

    Use these links. Searching the store can turn up a different app with a similar name.

    Using a watch? Apple Watch: open the Watch app on your iPhone and install Dozzi. Wear OS: install Dozzi from Google Play on your watch.

  4. Create your account and connect the Base

    Stand near the Base while you do this.

    1. Tap Get Started, then Create Account. Sign in with Apple or with email.
    2. The About You screen is optional. Agree to the data consent to continue.
    3. On Set up your Dozzi Base, tap Connect your Dozzi Base and allow Bluetooth.
    4. Pick your home Wi-Fi, enter the password and tap Connect.
    5. Turn on Critical Alerts when asked, so alerts can reach you on silent.

    Only seeing a 5 GHz network? Many routers share one name for both bands and the Base will still join. If yours has a separate 2.4 GHz name, pick that one.

  5. Invite your partner

    • The app shows a 6-digit invite code. Tap Share invite to send it. Each code works once and expires after an hour.
    • Your partner installs Dozzi, creates their own account and chooses the invite code option instead of setting up a new Base. On iPhone it reads Join with an invite code.
    • Up to 4 caregivers can share one Base.

  6. Choose how you split the night

    • Alternating: cries take turns between you.
    • Schedule: one of you covers until a set time, then the other takes over.
    • All caregivers: every alert goes to everyone.
    • Smart: turns heart rate and movement from your Apple Watches into a wakeability score for each parent, then sends the cry to the one best placed to answer it. iPhone with Apple Watch only; not available on Android.

    Sensitivity lives in Settings. If it misses quiet cries, move it up a step. If it picks up household noise, move it down.

  7. Test it before bed

    Run Test My Alert Chain: clap or play a crying sound near the Base, then confirm with I felt it when your phone or watch buzzes. On iPhone it opens after setup and lives in Settings → Advanced.

What the light means

Alternating red and greenSetup mode. Waiting for the app.
Red and green both on, softly litConnected and listening. This is normal overnight.
Slow red pulseReconnecting to Wi-Fi after a power cut. If it can't reconnect within 15 minutes, it goes back to setup mode.
Solid red, green flashingCry detected. The alert is on its way.
Quick green flashA phone is connecting to the Base.

If something goes wrong

The app can't find the Base
  • Check that Bluetooth is on and you are within 10 feet.
  • The light should be alternating red and green. If not, unplug the Base for 10 seconds and plug it back in.
  • Close and reopen the Dozzi app, then try again.
Wi-Fi won't connect
  • Double-check the password. It is case sensitive.
  • Use a 2.4 GHz network. The Base can't join 5 GHz only networks.
  • Move the Base closer to your router, or check that other devices are online.
New router or changed Wi-Fi password

Reset the Base (below), then set it up again in the app. Your partner will need a new invite code.

Alerts aren't coming through
  • Make sure notifications are on for Dozzi. On iPhone, turn on Critical Alerts too.
  • On Android, open the Ready for tonight checklist in the app and fix anything it lists.
  • Check that both the red and green lights on the Base are on, softly lit and steady.
  • Keep your phone, and your watch if you use one, charged and connected.
Reset the Base

This erases the Wi-Fi settings and caregiver list. Try unplugging and replugging first.

  1. Press the green button. The light blinks green three times, then turns solid red.
  2. While it is solid red, press the button again.
  3. When it turns solid red a third time, press once more.
  4. The light flashes green quickly, then alternates red and green. It is ready to set up again.

If you don't press while the light is red, the Base starts normally and nothing is erased.
